We officially announced our plans to move to Kenya 8 months ago.
Those eight months have both crept and flown by. We are so thankful for the time we’ve had to wrap up our jobs, focus on fundraising and say our last goodbyes. (Somehow we still managed to do a great deal of our packing in the final few HOURS of those 8 months).
At times, the idea of life in Kenya felt like a distant dream, rather than an upcoming reality.
On Tuesday, August 9th, after two nine hour flights, we (minus 3 of our bags) arrived in Nairobi, Kenya…our new home! The reality is finally beginning to sink in as we settle into our home, obtain work visas and learn to abide by African traffic laws (or lack thereof!).

The next few weeks will be spent focusing on getting to know the BlueSky staff and members of International Christian Fellowship (ICF) Church, as well as beginning our dive into youth ministry.
On a different (but very much related) note, we are 100% funded! …what a tremendous and perfectly-timed blessing! We are so grateful for a team of supporters who trust God’s provision and believe in the ministry He has called us to here in Kenya.
Over the upcoming days and weeks, here are some ways you can pray for us:
- overcoming jet-lag (especially Shanna….it’s been a tougher-than-usual struggle)
- opportunities to meet and connect with students
- smooth transitions (learning to drive, work visas and other paperwork, etc.)
- building strong relationships with BlueSky staff and ICF members
Woohoo!!!! The journey to get there has ended and the journey of being there has begun. The God who was faithful to get you there is the same God who will sustain you there. Much love and many prayers… Pastor Jeff, for all of your FPC Rome family
