In just a few short weeks, Disciple Now will be here!
If you are unfamiliar, Disciple Now (DNOW) is a weekend ministry event for middle and high school students. Typically, the students stay in host homes and spend the weekend attending big group Scripture sessions, playing awesome games, and participating in small group Bible studies led by volunteer leaders.
It is such a great opportunity to get to know students and encourage them to dive deeper in their faith!
We have both loved participating in DNOW each year with our home church in Rome, Georgia. While on staff with First Presbyterian, Nate helped organize and execute three DNOWs, from 2013 to 2016.
Shanna first volunteered as a leader for DNOW in 2008, which led to her getting plugged into the church congregation and the student ministry at First Pres.
It is a special weekend for us, that is for sure!
March 3-5, 2017 marks our first time planning a DNOW in Nairobi, and we are SO excited! It will be a great weekend, filled with rock climbing, epic surprise field games, messy activities, songs of worship and learning from the Word of God. We will have S.W.A.T. ministries from Athens, Georgia helping us with the weekend. The theme is “God of Yes,” and students will be learning about and discussing the incredible freedoms we have as followers of Christ.
Students from a variety of schools, backgrounds, cultures and nations will be attending….it’s going to be such a unique, fun experience!
A few of our students may have a hard time affording the weekend cost: $30 USD. We are looking for a number of sponsors to provide a DNOW scholarship to these students. If you are interested in sponsoring a student’s DNOW experience, follow the steps below:
- Select “Nate and Shanna Mast” as the Staff Member option
- Type “DNOW scholarship” in the Comments & Questions box
- As soon as we receive it, we will send you a personal confirmation. (Allow a week or two for our ministry to let us know)
Thank you so much. Also, join us in praying for students’ hearts to be open to receive what God has for them during Disciple Now. We are praying and hoping for an impactful experience for all involved.
